Welcome to Southern Belle Weddings—I’m so glad you’re here! If we haven’t met yet, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Rebekah, the owner and heart behind Southern Belle Weddings.

Born in the heart of Atlanta and raised in the warmth of the Midwest, I’ve always carried the South with me. The charm, the hospitality, the front porch stories, sweet tea, and slow dances under string lights—those Southern traditions shaped who I am. While life took me north, my heart never left the magnolias, the music, or the timeless elegance that defines the South. That’s why I created Southern Belle Weddings by Rebekah: to honor my roots and design weddings full of romance, refined details, and classic Southern charm.
A Lifelong Love for Weddings
My love for weddings started young. Long before Pinterest existed, I had a binder filled with magazine clippings, checklists, wedding dresses, and cake designs. While I always dreamed of becoming a wedding planner, I also had a passion for teaching. I went to college to pursue education and have been teaching for the past five years.
Still, weddings never left my heart. When Pinterest came along, I dove in headfirst—creating organized boards for every detail, from dresses and invitations to florals and décor. In the summer of 2024, I planned my own wedding and finally brought all those ideas to life. It was everything I hoped for—creative, joyful, and filled with personalized touches.
Through the process, I discovered just how much goes into planning a wedding. From touring venues and understanding photography styles to learning which flowers are in season, I soaked it all in. I found myself falling in love with stationery design—customizing my invitation suite with laser-cut jackets, wax seals, and handmade menus and place cards. One of my favorite personal touches? Folding napkins into dresses and tuxedos for our tablescape — folding napkins is something I’ve enjoyed doing since childhood holidays.
A Lesson Learned the Hard Way
Despite all the beauty and joy, we made one major mistake: we didn’t hire a coordinator. And as much as I loved planning, I shouldn’t have been the one running the day. We ended up over an hour behind schedule. With a shorter reception, that meant no open dancing—which broke my heart because I had dreamed of those special songs on the dance floor.
That experience changed everything. I realized how essential it is to have someone dedicated to keeping your day on track—so you can actually enjoy every moment. That’s when I knew: I wanted to be that person for other brides. The one who protects your timeline, your details, and your joy.
And so, Southern Belle Weddings by Rebekah was born.
What I Love Most
Here are just a few of my favorite wedding details and traditions:
Favorite moment: The first dance—always sweet, always romantic.
Favorite tradition: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, plus a sixpence in your shoe. For my wedding, I found a sixpence from the 1800s (a nod to my love of the Victorian era) and tucked the ticket from our first date into my bouquet.
Favorite trends: Grazing tables, micro weddings, and late-night snacks! We had all three at our wedding, and they were huge hits.
Favorite decor: Tablescapes, linens, custom place settings, and of course—twinkling string lights. At our wedding, icicle lights above the tables created a magical, starlit atmosphere.
Favorite splurges: The dress, invitations, the venue, and photography. Your dress is your statement and your comfort. The right venue sets the tone. And your invitations? They’re the first impression of your wedding day. I handcrafted ours with dried florals, lace, and wax seals—true to the romantic aesthetic I love. Our venue was Dogwood Canyon Nature Park near Branson, Missouri—a rustic chapel overlooking a waterfall, and a restaurant with glass walls showcasing the canyon. It was unforgettable, and the photos captured the magic perfectly.

A Little More About Me
Beyond weddings, I’m an avid reader—especially of romantic and inspirational stories. My goal this year is to read all of Jane Austen’s novels (I just started Emma). I also love to travel and have visited 41 states and three countries so far. My favorite places? Italy, New York City, and the Grand Canyon.
And yes—I’m a lifelong Disney fan! I even spent a year as a Disney cast member through the Disney College Program, where I learned how the smallest of details can bring a story to life. That’s something I carry with me into every wedding I plan.
Now that you know a bit about me, I want to get to know you as well! Comment below your favorite wedding detail, tradition, or anything you love that is non-wedding related!
